Copywriting and Content Marketing Make Good Partners

loving-1433310What should good copywriting do?  It should: 1) inform; 2) provide value; and 3) be easy to read and enjoyable.  The basic rule of thumb for the bulk of copywriting is to aim your text in the direction of 8th graders.  Why choose 8th graders?  That level is considered fairly basic; you don’t want to talk “over” or “under” readers, so good copywriters will aim for a middle ground.  There are exceptions, of course, as there are to every rule.  However, for basic copywriting needs, this is a desired and well-accepted rule.

It’s a Conversation

Copywriting has been described as an “ongoing conversation” between a business and its clients.  When done right, copywriting can effectively persuade your target audience to push through and take that next step to: 1) learn more about your product or service; or 2) subscribe to your email list so they can continually learn more about what your business has to offer.

Marketing Your Product or Service

Marketing with great content is a powerful tool, “if” it is used correctly.  To be successful with your content marketing strategy(ies), great copywriting needs to come into play as well.  Copywriters need to subscribe to the prevailing ideology that written text needs to expertly crafted in such a way as to leave no doubt that the call to action your business is asking for is a “must-have” for them.  In order for a content marketing strategy to be successful, it must work hand-in-hand with the creative copywriter to consistently deliver valuable and relevant content to consumers.

The successful combination of copywriting and content marketing will draw the consumer in on friendly and personable terms, while at the same time creating an urge on the part of the consumer to know more about and be more involved with your business and its products or services.

The Importance of Copywriters

laptop-keyboard-1515695Just how important are copywriters?  Forgive us this momentary pause in bias, but, we do happen to believe copywriters are EXTREMELY important to any and every business.  Even more important than SEO specialists who say they can turn every web site click into money in your pocket?  Yes, without a doubt.  While copywriters do often write with SEO strategies in mind, it’s the structured, meaningful content of the writing itself that is going to grab each consumer by the ankles and not let go until they have scoured your web site for exactly whatever it is they are looking for.

PANDAS AND PENGUINS

These days, SEO content necessarily relies more on quality content than merely stuffing a certain amount of keywords into a bunch of otherwise roughly worded text and expecting customers to engage.  Quality content is what great copywriting is about.  Quality content is what a great blog should have been about all along.  Google realized that and, with its Panda and Penguin updates to word algorithms, has decided to bring back higher quality to the text it categorizes for the consumer’s benefit.

GOOGLE WATCHES THE STATS

Google can tell how well a web site’s text works in compelling site visitors to click on links, thereby interacting with the business.  Through analyzing the time spent on the site, the page depth, and the bounce rate, Google can tell how well the text manages to do what it desires to do – produce a call to action from the consumer.  Copywriters who have experience with highlighting SEO in just the right way and are adept at being creative can get great results from a web site’s traffic.

BACKLINKS

Are backlinks helpful?  The answer is yes, when used naturally.  Are you getting the idea here?  Meaningful content.  Quality content.  Valuable content.  Honesty and Integrity with the written word.  Naturally used SEO words, phrases, and backlinks.  All these words/terms equate to the kind of organic backlinking that Google wants to see; it’s what Google is looking for; and it is what Google will reward with higher rankings in their search results.

Copywriters are in charge of directing quality content, along with a healthy dose of creative expression in understandable terms for the greater good of your business, to potential consumers.  Put a copywriter to work for you today.

Hiring a Ghost Blogger Can Benefit Your Business

at-night-1194917Can your business benefit from hiring a ghost blogger to help write content for your web site?  Many experts on the subject agree that ghost blogging can be very complementary to a business, as long as the writer maintains the company’s philosophies and engages consumers with the voice that suits the business.  Ghost bloggers generally have a way of writing that can often enhance the company’s words. Often those who work directly for the company may overlook factors that someone with a new set of eyes can see more clearly.

Why Hire a Ghost Blogger?

Time, time, and time are really good reasons (even though that’s only one reason, it’s really worth three mentions).  It takes a huge amount of time to tackle writing a blog well, especially if you’re not a writer by trade.  A ghost blogger can also bring a fresh perspective to a business matter that a company insider may be too close to see clearly.  As well, the blogger must remember their audience.  In some industries, too many technical terms can turn prospective clients off.  A ghost blogger will seek to inform, enlighten, and entertain a reader with just the right amount of technicality – not too much, not too little.  That’s the job of a really good ghost blogger.

What Does It Take to Write a Blog Well?

Time (which we have already mentioned) and plenty of it to devote to constructing a well-written, well-meaning, and well-purposed amount of text aimed at evoking a sense or action.  Writing has been called a blend of both art and science.  A ghost blogger needs to know proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.  A blog that is not well-written will likely not be well-received.  Typically, writers have a passion for their craft and that passion will show through to what they write for/about your business.  A blog has been called “an ongoing conversation” between your business and your clients.  Make it count; make it matter.

A ghost blogger can save you time and bring a fresh perspective to content that’s main purpose is to enhance the credibility and viability of your business.  Don’t lose out on obtaining this aid to helping your business grow.

Your Editing Checklist (No Matter What You’re Writing)

my-next-trip-1320575-mThe right editing job can distinguish good writing from bad. You could easily have the best text in the world, but poorly edited, it’s just going to reflect badly on you or your company. From your blog posts to your LinkedIn posts to even your press releases, it has to be perfect. Make certain you look for at least these things:

  • Content Readability: Think carefully about your audience for the piece. If you’ve used quite a bit of technical terminology, but your audience may not understand those terms, you may need to do some rewriting. Similarly, you have to consider attention span. Those visiting your Facebook page won’t care to read an entire blog post. Those visiting your blog likely won’t care to read an entire whitepaper. Attention span not only dictates the length of your post, but also whether you need short, staccato sentences, sub headings throughout, and bullet points.
  • Spelling: This is less of an issue than it once was thanks to technology, but it can still be a problem. You’ve probably seen lots of wacky auto correct errors, and in some cases, a spell checker may highlight a word that’s correctly spelled already or fail to recognize an incorrectly spelled choice.
  • Punctuation: Misplaced apostrophes, poorly used commas, and the downright murder of the semicolon spell one thing for well-written pieces: doom. In some cases, a period may be for dramatic effect. In others, though, it may show you weren’t paying attention to the grammar book in 7th grade.

If you’re concerned about your own editing abilities, have someone else take a look. Even if you grab the first person who walks by your desk, an extra eye on the content is never a bad thing, You can also email it to us. With fast turnaround times and incredibly cheap rates on editing, we’re the place to turn when you want to produce quality.

Three Ways Your Business Can Use An E-Book

communicate-4-1162225-mE-books have become the norm for reaching a target audience with your message.  Why?  They are electronic, first and foremost, which is nearly crucial these days to finding success online.  An online e-book can reach many people very quickly.  What can it do, specifically, to help grow your business?

ACT AS AN INTRODUCTION

An e-book can be a handy introduction to your company and your services and/or products.  Like e-newsletters and e-guides, they can provide a short, quick reference to who you are and what your company has to offer.  Seconds matter: getting a prospective client’s attention with a well-written e-book that is concise and to the point can prove extremely valuable to growing your client base. Offer them free on your Facebook page; that’s a great way of introducing your services – plus, you can grow your list of email addresses which might have marketing potential.

MARKETING COMPANION FOR BUSINESS LIFECYCLES

E-books are easier and more cost-effective than traditional publishing methods to produce. They can also reach a vast and wide audience, quicker and more efficiently than traditional books.  As your business moves through different phases (i.e., lifecycles), these short information messengers can help spread news about changes, products and services, recent content surrounding your industry, etc.  EPUB-style e-books should also be a priority as they can be uploaded from iBookstore, as well as Barnes and Noble, and Amazon.

ANOTHER SOURCE OF INCOME

As well as being a source to spread messages about your business, your services/products, and your industry, these short electronic books can also become another source of revenue for your business. You can easily add an interesting and informative e-book to your line of business tools by growing interest in a subject and then charging a small fee so others can download it straight from your web site.

E-books can be profitable in a number of ways. Select topics with care, using intuitive thought, and combining images and graphics with refined text that is concise and to the point. Many suggest using colors in a complementary fashion, as opposed to just black and white text. Done on the computer, this is a very easy and cost-effective solution. However you choose to promote your business, using these brief marketing tools can be very beneficial.
